Conan the Barbarian is a 1982 action-adventure fantasy film by director John Milius and is recognized as the acting breakthrough of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had previously been a famous bodybuilder. The film is loosely based on the Conan the Barbarian stories by Robert E. Howard and was written by Oliver Stone and John Milius, set in the mythical Hyborian Age. Both Conan the Barbarian and its sequel Conan the Destroyer are sword and sorcery epic tales that include magic, mythical creatures, and fantastical events.

Conan the Destroyer is a 1984 film directed by action fantasy veteran Richard Fleischer. It is the sequel to Conan the Barbarian, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mako returning to resume their roles as Conan and Akiro the wizard, respectively. New characters includes Olivia D'Abo and Grace Jones. This sequel was moderately successful at the box office in the US, and very successful internationally.

Há milhares de anos Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones) dos filmes Star Wars, um demoníaco feiticeiro, comanda um ataque por motivos até hoje não revelados que poderia ser simplesmente pelo prazer de matar ou para descobrir o segredo do aço, que era guardado pelos moradores de uma aldeia. Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger), um cimério, vê seus pais serem mortos na sua frente e seu povo ser massacrado, sendo que ele, ainda criança, é levado para um campo de escravos. Os anos passam e ele desenvolve uma enorme força física, o que faz Conan se tornar gladiador. Ele ainda se mantém determinado a vingar a morte dos pais e quando é libertado tenta alcançar seu objetivo. Conan descobre que Thulsa Doom lidera o misterioso culto da serpente e, tentando se aproximar do feiticeiro, faz amizade com dois ladrões, Valeria e Subotai. Ao trio é prometida uma vultosa recompensa pelo rei Osric (Max von Sydow), que quer que o trio de guerreiros resgate sua filha, que se tornou uma seguidora de Thulsa Doom.
